We US taxpayers give $3 billion each year to Israel for their military — this is hardly the way to achieve peace!
When I visited Gaza after the Israeli attack in 2012, many of the Palestinians I spoke with wanted to be sure I understood that the rockets and airplanes that had wrought so much destruction were from the USA. I didn’t choose to send all these weapons to Israel — did you?!
I believe that most of us Americans have little idea of the real human impact of US policies on other peoples. And it is important that we learn as much as we can, because we as citizens are ultimately responsible for the actions of our government. From what I saw in my visit to this part of Palestine, I believe that we Americans must insist that our tax dollars not be used anymore to finance the Israeli military.
