American citizens have the right to vote in U.S. federal elections, no matter where you live in the world or how long you’ve lived there – and Democrats Abroad is here to help!

Click here if you’d like to vote in the Global Presidential Primary — Democrats Abroad official presidential primary which runs through March 10.

Click here to register or request your overseas absentee ballot. This option is for voters who wish to vote with their state primary, and/or vote with your state in November 2020.

Which is right for me? We recommend that you do both!

What’s the difference? The global primary is a state-run primary election, where we choose how Democrats Abroad’s delegates will vote at the Democratic National Convention. It’s just like the presidential primary in your voting state, but in most cases your vote is actually more powerful in our primary, since tens of thousands will vote in the global primary, compared to millions in most the US state primaries.

Requesting your overseas absentee ballot, however, is something that everyone should do at the start of each year. Doing so will ensure that you receive all overseas absentee ballots relevant to you this year — including the general election in the fall as well as any special elections and local and state primaries (if you vote in the global primary, you can vote down-ballot but you can’t vote for president more than once!).
